Explore is our outpatient program in Provo, serving clients in Utah County. Groups are held twice a week. Tuesday from 4:00-5:30 pm is our Life Skills Class, and Thursday is our Relapse Prevention Class from 4:00-5:30 pm. Both classes are PRS Groups.

Also offered are individual and/or Family Therapy, Substance Abuse Assessments, Psychological Evaluations, Educational Evaluations, Psychiatric Evaluations and Medication Management and UA testing.

The Strengthening Families Program is available including Home-Based or Proctor-Based services.Classes are offered weekly accompanied by In-Home Family Coaching sessions. Aftercare for clients who have particapated in the Strengthening Families Program at other Journey Programs is offered at this site.

Clients are served while living at home or in one of our proctor homes. The Out-Patient clinic serves both males and females, ages 13 to 18. Length of time varies with the client.

We have contracts with DJJS/DCFS as well as accepting private pay.

Staff:

Miranda Peterson – Program Director

Miranda Peterson has been working for The Journey since 2013. She started with the Focus program for 3 months and then transferred to the Explore program as the Admin Assistant. She also taught group therapy once a week and was a tracker. She later became the Assistant Director which she currently still does and continues to works part time at the Focus. Miranda is in the process of finishing her degree and hopes to be a therapist in the future. In her free time, she enjoys traveling down to San Diego with her husband where they are both from.

Craig Rollo, M.S., LMFT  – Clinical Director

CraigCraig has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1999. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 1993, and a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1996, both from University of Nevada at Las Vegas. His primary work has been with adolescents and their families in Residential Treatment settings. He has also done independent work with individuals, couples and families. He has collaborated with Dr. Paul H. Jenkins, creating “Marital Magic Seminars and Retreats.” This included seminars and workshops; mutli-day, overnight retreats; and couples cruises. Craig and his wife Debbi, have been Foster or Proctor parents for a combined 27 years.

Jamie Griffin

JamieJamie has Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Substance Abuse. Jamie has recently graduated with her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling (ACMHC). Prior to working at the Journey Jamie worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor for adults for the two years. Here she was able to gain an understanding of the struggles and affects that drugs have on people lives. Jamie found her passion for working with youth while working with troubled youth in residential facilities for three years. Jamie enjoys hanging out with her son and daughter and her husband on her free time.

Chelsea Thomas, ACMHC

ChelseaThomasChelsea has a Master’s Degree from the University of Phoenix as an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor (ACMHC) and a Bachelor of Art in Social Work from Utah Valley University. Chelsea has certifications in the following areas; Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor (ACMHC), Prime for Life Instructor, WFR, First Aid/ CPR certifications and is Certified in Positive Control. Chelsea is currently a therapist for The Journey and is also the Admissions Director and Executive Clinical Coordinator for Outpatient Services for The Journey. Chelsea started as a supervisor at the Journey, Impact Ranch nine years ago. She became the Program Director of Impact Ranch Developed and later developed the New Vision (substance dependence) and True Path (behavioral and substance abuse) group homes for teenage girls. Chelsea became the Program Director for each of these programs and later served as the Gender Specific Administrator for the Journey. Chelsea started the Salt Lake Outpatient Clinic for the Journey and then became a therapist for the New Vision girls group home.

Nicole Nelson, CMHC, LSUDC

Nicole NelsonNicole has a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and is a Licensed Substance Use Disorder Counselor. Her credentials are Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC); Licensed Substance Use Disorder Counselor (LSUDC). She is currently working as the Executive Clinical Director over Training at The Journey. She has worked in the field of substance dependency for over 8 years and with adolescents for over 13 years. She started with The Journey 10 years ago as an Administrative Assistant and became a line staff, supervisor and Program Director before becoming a therapist. Nicole is passionate and dedicated and believes enthusiasm and love will help heal addictions and strengthen relationships affected by it.
